French international Paul Pogba is said to have confessed in his second police interview to using witchcraft – but not to cast a spell on Kylian Mbappe.
Pogba, a former Manchester United star, is at the centre of an extortion scandal involving his brother Mathias and gang members believed to be former friends of the family.
The gang members are reportedly using Mathias to extort R224 million from Paul for “services provided” throughout the years.
One of the methods Mathias and the gang are using in an attempt to get the money is blackmail.
Mathias claimed that his brother got a witchdoctor to cast a spell on French teammate Mbappe but Pogba revealed to police that it was for a humanitarian organisation that provides aid to children in Africa.
French publication France Info reported that Pogba also said that he used the witchdoctor to ensure he does not get injured.
Pogba told police that the gang members showed up in front of his mother’s house recently to ask for the money. His mother has since been placed under protection.
The case is confirmed to be with two investigating judges as well as the Paris prosecutor’s office who opened a formal judicial investigation on Friday into attempted blackmail claims.
Pogba is said to have changed his phone number twice since the blackmail attempts began but the harassment has not stopped.
The midfielder re-signed for Italian side Juventus after a rather lacklustre spell at Manchester United.
The gang members are said to be after a signing bonus which Pogba received upon signing his contract.
Pogba has yet to feature for Juventus since his return due to an ankle injury.
