Pitso tells Chiefs to pick up the phone or forget about him

  • The former Sundowns boss says he gets offers every week and will not beg for a job in South Africa.
  • Kaizer Chiefs have been stuck without a permanent head coach since Nasreddine Nabi left the club nearly three months ago.

Amakhosi fans are dreaming of Pitso Mosimane saving their club. But the legendary coach has a message for the bosses at Naturena.

He is not applying for the job. If they want him, they must pick up the phone.

Mosimane spoke to Radio 2000 about the vacant coaching seat at Kaizer Chiefs. He made it clear he knows his worth.

“You must remember that at the point I am, I don’t apply for jobs,” he said.

He says this is not about having a big ego. It is about respect. He wants to see a clear plan before he signs anything.

The 61-year-old has won the CAF Champions League three times. He says teams from Africa and the Middle East call him every second week to ask for his services.

Chiefs have been struggling to find a permanent leader. They parted ways with Nasreddine Nabi nearly three months ago.

Right now, caretaker coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are holding the fort until the end of the 2026 season.

Mosimane says he is open to coming back to South African football. But the offer has to be serious.

“I will coach any team in the country that shows me why I need to come here,” he said.

He warned that success does not happen overnight. It takes time to build a winning team, just like he did at Mamelodi Sundowns.
