➤ The Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) has already dished up some magical moments but with the knockout stages getting underway, expect Africa’s showpiece to light up the soccer world.

The top 16 teams across the continent will go head-to-head in a must-win fixture. Losers will be packing their bags in the ultimate pressure test in all of sport. Sunday will see the round of 16 get underway as teams fight to write their name in the history books.

The first of the round of 16 matches will be between Burkina Faso and Gabon at 6pm on Sunday. Nigeria will end Sunday’s action with their game against Tunisia at 9pm.

Nigeria was the only team to win all three of their group stage matches and in their current form, they will not care about who they come up against as possibly the favourites to have their name engraved on the trophy.

The rest of the round of 16 action continues on Monday through to Wednesday when the final eight of the competition will be decided.

All the round of 16 Afcon action can be watched live on DStv channel 202.

➤ The Proteas and India will once again go head-to-head over the weekend in the remaining two cricket One Day Internationals (ODI).

The Proteas have enjoyed a successful time against India, winning the test series 2-1, and claiming victory in Wednesday’s action.

They’ll be hoping to continue their good form against India on Friday when the action begins at 10.30am at the Boland Park in Paarl.

The ODI series between the two sides will end on Sunday at the famous Newlands ground in Cape Town to end what has been an impressive display from the Proteas, regardless of what takes place over the weekend.

The ODI series between the Proteas and India can be watched live on DStv channel 201.

➤ The Blitzboks will begin their 2022 Sevens campaign in Spain in the city of Malaga which comes in as a new addition to the World Sevens calendar.

The Springbok 7s team will take on Scotland on Friday at 2.10pm before they take on England on Saturday at 2.15pm in the finals on Saturday evening.

Since their less than great performance at the Tokyo Olympics the Blitzboks have stepped up to the plate in spectacular fashion. They enjoyed a highly successful 2021 year, winning back-to-back Dubai Sevens towards the end of last year.

The Sevens Series action in Malaga can be watched live on DStv channel 211.
