Nottingham Forest registered their first home win of the campaign as they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Monday night football.
The Eagles matched their hosts for attempts and possession, but the table tells a different story all because of Chris Wood’s clinical goal shortly after the hour mark.
The 32-year-old may have had even more on a night where both sides looked lively and had early attempts denied by the woodwork.
It was eventually his low finish that would find its way into the back of the net — although some may argue Dean Henderson should have done better in his attempt to stop it from breaching the Palace goal.
The win sends Forest up into eighth on the table, as they finally bring an end to a six game winless run at the City Ground.
For the evening’s visitors, the pressure is certainly on.
Oliver Glasner’s troops have failed to win any of their first eight league games for just a fourth time in their league history — and the first in over two decades.
Palace remain in 18th place with just three points as they next prepare to host Tottenham on Sunday. Forest will begin gameweek nine’s action with a trip to Leicester City on Friday night football.
