Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Graham Potter could be forced to call back Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau sooner than expected.
Potter is in need of a saviour and a good playmaker to turn things around to ensure his team plays in the English Premier League next season.
Tau could be that saviour. His form in the Belgium league for Anderlecht speaks volumes. On Saturday Brighton salvaged a point at home when they drew 1-1 with the current Premier League champions Liverpool.
Pascal Grob’s last minute penalty saved Brighton from their fifth defeat in ten Premier League matches this season. A draw for Liverpool has put them back on top of the log table.
Diogo Jota’s 59th minute goal put the visitors ahead and that goal was enough to see Reds on top, relegating Tottenham Hotspurs to second place. Liverpool’s lead, however, could last for only one night should Spurs win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow afternoon.
Earlier this week Potter mentioned that he is closely monitoring Tau’s progress in Belgium.
Tau, 26, has been unable to represent the Premier League club since his R50-million move from Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2018 due to work-permit restrictions.
However, the diminutive attacker has impressed in his temporary spells, winning the Proximus Player of the Season with Royal Union SG and the Jupiler Pro League title with Club Brugge in the 2019/20 campaign.
Now with the record 41-time league champions Anderlecht, Tau has taken his game to new heights under the management of Vincent Kompany with four goals in 12 league games. Meanwhile he moved into the top 10 all-time scorers list with Bafana Bafana last week.
