Love Island USA favourites Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe have broken up after more than a year together.
A source told PEOPLE that living far apart and their busy work schedules made it difficult for the couple to stay together.
Fans called the pair “Nicolandria” after they met during season seven of the reality dating show.
The source said they remain close friends and still care deeply for each other.
“They share a deep love and respect for each other and will always support one another whenever possible,” the source said.
Neither Olandria, 28, nor Nic, 25, had publicly spoken about the break-up at the time of publication.
The couple grew close after Casa Amor, when Olandria chose to explore her connection with Nic following Cierra Ortega’s exit from the villa.
Olandria later called choosing Nic the “best decision” she made on the show.
Nic said he had been her “secret admirer from day one”.
After leaving the villa, they had to deal with living far apart, growing careers and heavy attention from fans online.
They previously said they tried to keep parts of their relationship private, but this led to more rumours.
Since the show, Olandria has grown her career in fashion and beauty. She has attended events including the Golden Globes and Paris Fashion Week.
Nic has also continued building his career outside reality television.
