NYC? More like Sbu York City!

By Dylan Bettencourt

Showers weren’t listed on Saturday night’s weather forecast in New York – but DJ Sbu certainly made it rain!

A recent performance by DJ Sbu at Superior Ingredients in Brooklyn had the crowd throwing American dollars at the radio personality.

Showcasing amapiano and South African music to the world, DJ Sbu went to New York for several gigs.

The entertainer, real name Sbusiso Leope, shared videos of the crowd in the Big Apple throwing money onto the stage.

“It’s a different feeling to be thrown ngaMaDollar. I receive them all with God’s grace and humility. It’s a good sign for the future. I promise to turn them into billions of dollars,” he said, Zalebs reported.

“May all that money multiply where it came from. May it also multiply to every person reading this caption.”

The 45-year-old’s recent success abroad comes after many accused him of not bathing after images emerged of the DJ with dreadlocks and a beard.

“Apparently people are saying I don’t bathe. Guys, come on, there are more serious things we could be discussing in this country. Leave my beard and hair alone,” he said at the time.

It seems DJ Sbu has come a long way from looking like he needs a bath to being showered with money in front of a foreign crowd.

The veteran Sbu explained that he has been attempting to get more in touch with nature in recent times.

“When you are a black person, you are so blessed that your melanin connects to this,” he said, pointing at a tree.

“It connects to the plants, connects to the earth. From time to time when you get a chance, just walk barefoot, either on your green grass or on the floor. When you get the chance just hug a tree. You can hug a tree for like 2-3 minutes.”
