The once blossoming love tale between Norma Mngoma and Malusi Gigaba has turned messier and uglier.
Mngoma accused Gigaba of being childish by attempting to gag her testimony at the state capture commission on Friday.
“This is unacceptable. It should not be like this. I wonder why (Gigaba) is panicking.”
She said this during a candid interview with Scrolla.Africa on Thursday.
Mngoma wouldn’t be drawn into commenting about her testimony.
Worried that his alleged secret dealings with the Guptas would be exposed, Gigaba has appealed to the commission that Mngoma’s testimony should be given behind closed doors.
But his soon-to-be ex-wife was having none of it.
“I want to help the commission with the information that I have. I feel obliged to help the commission,” she said.
The commission is chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Mngoma was expected to expose Gigaba’s secret dealings with the controversial Gupta family.
The Guptas, which had close ties to former president Jacob Zuma, were also said to have been key figures in the capturing of the state during his presidency.
The couple tied the knot in 2014 in a glittering ceremony.
They have two children Nkanyezi and Mvelo.
Their relationship turned sour after Mngoma was arrested last year on charges of crimen injuria and malicious damage.
This was after she allegedly damaged a Mercedes Benz G-Class belonging to Gigaba’s friend.
However, the NPA dropped all the charges against her recently.
Mngoma said she had forgiven Gigaba for all the pain he inflicted on her.
Despite this, she said she had an obligation as a law-abiding citizen, to tell the truth as it was at the commission.
“The commission is where I am going, and nobody will stop me now. The country deserves the truth.”
Gigaba has asked the commission to throw Mngoma’s testimony out of the window.
He reportedly claimed that many personal details would be exposed if Mngoma was allowed to testify in public.
He pleaded with Zondo that Mngoma should give testimony behind closed doors.
The ball was in the court of the commission, and Zondo was yet to announce his decision.
All attempts to reach Gigaba were unsuccessful.
