- Mcinga, a member of the Amangxongo royal council, says the King is unfit to lead and must be sent to a wellness centre for specialist attention.
- The King’s spokesperson dismissed Mcinga’s concerns, saying His Majesty refuses to entertain what he called stupidity.
Nolubabalo Mcinga says she gave up a lot for King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo. She sold her vehicles. She left her philanthropic work. She moved into Bumbane Great Palace, which she says she found in poor condition, and spent her own resources rebuilding it. The King bought her a Porsche.
Now he is saying the marriage never happened.
Mcinga, who is a member of the Amangxongo royal council, told Scrolla.Africa on Thursday that the King approached her family and asked to marry her despite the fact that they are related. Her family agreed. The marriage was never registered with Home Affairs because, she says, it was a spiritual union intended to bring intervention to problems the King was facing.
She says it worked. After the marriage, the King stopped smoking dagga in public, pulled back from behaviour she describes as embarrassing on social media including TikTok, and began engaging in what she calls dignified programmes with his nation, including his fight against extortion and meetings with international leaders.
“He approached my family and asked to marry me despite the fact that we are related. But my family agreed to his request as he believes that our union would bring spiritual intervention to his problems,” she said.
Now Mcinga says the King has called the marriage fake and forged, and she has decided to drop her Queen’s title. Her family is arranging a ceremony to cleanse her and separate her spiritual connection from the King.
She says the marriage also cost her in other ways. Some of her funders pulled away from her work, she says, claiming her husband was working with Israel and US President Donald Trump.
Mcinga told Scrolla.Africa that she believes the King is not fit to lead and should be removed from the throne and sent to a wellness centre for specialist attention. She says she cannot disclose the specific problems she is referring to.
The King’s spokesperson, Sphelele Mtirara, said His Majesty would not be responding.
“The King says he has no comment. He can’t be entertaining stupidity,” Mtirara said.
