The Jacob Zuma Foundation and the former president’s family are planning a massive jamboree at the former president’s R250 million home in Nkandla in Northern KZN.
EThekwini Community Church leader Bishop Vusi Dube said they are planning a prayer as part of the activities planned to welcome Zuma home.
Mzwanele Manyi, the spokesperson of the JG Zuma Foundation, hinted at a possible slaughter of cattle for the 79-year-old.
“So far he has not been released from the correctional services hospital. The decision to place him on medical parole is indeed good news and it shows that there are human beings in the system who still have Ubuntu. We really appreciate the decision. For now he is still at the correctional services hospital. We are still waiting for his release from that hospital. Then we will see if we can slaughter something to welcome him back home,” said Manyi.
Msholozi is out of jail after being placed on medical parole by the Department of Correctional Services.
In a press statement, the department said: “Medical parole placement for Mr Zuma means that he will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections, whereby he must comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subjected to supervision until his sentence expires.”
Bishop Vusi Dube said: “We are happy about this decision and most of all that our Nxamalala will be able to spend time with his wife umama Makhumalo who was very disturbed by the arrest. We will organise a big prayer in Nkandla just to thank God for bringing Nxamalala back home.”
Popular Nongoma FM Maskandi DJ and cultural activist Welcome Ntombela, who supported Zuma openly, said: “Zuma is too old to spend time in jail and we were very concerned about his arrest.”
The Radical Economic Transformation (RET) champion, Nkosentsha Shezi, said: “This is a call for celebration as it shows that we still have certain organs of state that have credibility. It’s time now for the Constitutional Court to do a self introspection and announce the ruling on the rescission case.”
Zuma’s eldest son Edward Zuma said: “We are happy as a family and we welcome the decision by the medical parole board to release uMsholozi.”
