The Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party has removed the former KwaZulu-Natal provincial government director-general as its provincial coordinator in its strongest province.
Ngidi, who is number one on the party’s list for the KZN legislature, was removed in a letter dated 15 April 2024.
“Your role going forward will be a normal member of the MK Party in KwaZulu-Natal. You will be notified of your redeployment in due cause (sic).
“MK Party appreciates your role played thus far,” reads the letter signed by Sihle Ngubane, the party’s interim secretary-general.
Ngidi’s replacement is Thobani Zuma, the former ANC deputy mayor of the troubled Msunduzi (Pietermaritzburg) municipality.
Zuma (not related to Jacob Zuma) now sits at the top of the interim provincial structure as the provincial convener.
On Wednesday Ngidi represented the party during the IEC’s pledge signing ceremony at the Durban ICC.
The spokesperson of the ANC splinter party, Nhlamulo Ndlela, confirmed the latest change to the leadership structure.
“Yes, it’s true,” Ndlela told Scrolla.Africa when asked about the matter.
