Poverty, crime, racism, human trafficking and love drive the next Netflix action movie from Mzansi to be released on 16 June, Youth Day.

Collision also touches on pressing South African issues such as xenophobia and the life of sex workers. All the scenes in the movie take place on a single day.

Lead actors include Vuyo Dabula, who’s famous for his role on the SABC soapie Generations, and Langley Kirkwood, who appeared in Invictus.

“Over the course of one fateful day, a corrupt businessman and his socialite wife race to save their daughter from a notorious crime lord,” Netflix describes the movie.

Even though character names have not been announced yet, other cast members include Mpho Sebeng, who grew up in television-making appearances on series films like Rhythm City,  Z’bondiwe and Ring of Lies.

Sebeng was recently cast on another Netflix production, a drama series called Savage Beauty, alongside Dumisani Mbhele, who starred on Generations as Dumisani.

Collision’s first trailer was released on Monday, 16 May. It was directed by Fabien Martorell from France, who has won over 18 awards from 25 nominations in America and Europe, with short films like The Coin and Unbelief.
