Nasreddine Nabi has finally been announced as the new head coach of Kaizer Chiefs.

Rumours of the Tunisian taking charge of the Soweto giants were rife for a while; and on Sunday, the news finally became official as the club made the announcement on social media.

Details of the 58-year-old’s contract are yet to be revealed. However Chiefs’ marketing director Jessica Motaung believes that Nabi is certainly the right man for the job.

“We looked at a number of things; the right coach would have coached around the continent and would understand the Chiefs brand and where we want to go,” she told reporters at the launch of the pre-season Toyota Cup.

“He is a coach who has the hunger and passion for success and the Chiefs brand. I must say, well done to the sporting director [Kaizer Motaung Jr] and the entire team for the extensive work they did in scouting the world.”

Nabi comes off the back of a good season at AS Far Rabat where his side finished second in the Botola top-flight league and made the final of the Moroccan Throne Cup.

Under caretaker boss Cavin Johnson, Chiefs ended their PSL campaign in 10th place – their worst ever finish.

Nabi will begin his role with a pre-season fixture against Tanzanian side Young Giants on 28 July.
