- Veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi, 63, will be honoured at two memorial services in Pretoria and Polokwane this week.
- Sebogodi’s funeral will take place on Saturday at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, before he is laid to rest in Limpopo.
South Africans will gather this week to honour veteran actor x, after his family confirmed the details of his memorial services and funeral.
Sebogodi, 63, died on 15 July following complications related to diabetes. He will be remembered at two memorial services before he is laid to rest in Limpopo.
The first memorial service takes place at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria on Thursday, 23 July, starting at 9am. Family, friends, fellow actors and fans are expected to attend.
A second memorial service will be held on Friday, 24 July, at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane, from 12pm to 6pm.
His funeral will take place at the same venue on Saturday, 25 July, starting at 8am, before he is buried.
Sebogodi built a career spanning more than four decades in television, theatre and film. He was best known for his role as Kenneth Mashaba in Generations, and also appeared in Suburban Bliss, Rhythm City, The River and Scandal!.
On stage, he earned respect for productions including Waiting for Godot, The Rivonia Trial and Big Dada.
His death has led to an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow entertainers and cultural organisations, who have praised his talent, kindness and lasting contribution to South African storytelling.
