South African seasoned actor Dingaan Siyabonga Khumalo (DSK), better known for his role as James Motsamai on the local drama, Muvhango is now an Amapiano musician.
The multifaceted actor and TV presenter is working on his new Amapiano single, Gabadiya which is set to be released on all digital platforms soon.
He collaborated with fellow actor Sihle Tshabalala (Bhubesi).
During an interview with Scrolla.Africa DSK said he was ready to share his creative side with the world.
“Many people don’t know that before I hit the big screen I was a member of a choral music group. Unfortunately in the group I could not shine as an individual,” he explained.
The 43-year-old added that Amapaino is an authentic South African flavor that cannot be found anywhere in the world and demands for the artists to be very creative.
Unlike other local genres like Kwaito and House music he was able to relate to the music.
He added that when Bhubesi approached him to join him in the studio because he knew his love and appreciation for Amapiano music, he couldn’t turn him down.
“I could not pass up this opportunity to finally make my mark in the industry, I immediately jumped at the idea,” he explained.
DSK said he used the opportunity to unwind and have fun in the studio to escape depression.
“In my line of work, especially on Reality Show Mamazala, we deal with a lot of depressing content on a daily basis and after every shoot I find myself depressed.
“I used music and time in the studio to unwind and escape the noise,” he said.
He hoped Gabadiya would have the same effect on his fans and other Amapiano music lovers.
“This is a dance song that will have many blasting their speakers this festive season,” he added.
