MTN launches Pi service with cheap data deals for families

By Rorisang Modiba

  • MTN launched Pi to give families mobile and home internet deals that people control through one app on their phone.
  • New customers can get 20gb of data for R1 for the first three months of using the new Pi service.

MTN has started a new service called Pi for mobile and home internet. It allows families to manage all their internet needs in one place using a single app.

New users can get up to 20gb of data for only R1 for the first three months. People who use home internet can also get faster speeds during this time on certain packages.

One person can manage up to 10 different lines through the phone app. They can set data limits for each family member to keep costs low and stop people using too much.

Mobile plans start from R99 for 5gb and go up to R399 for 80gb. People can also add voice minutes to their deals starting from R79 for 300 minutes.

Home internet deals cost from R399 for 200gb to R699 for 1tb. This service works wherever the MTN network is found even when people are travelling across the country.

People can sign up using the Pi app or the website. They can choose to keep their old phone number or get a new one from MTN.

The mobile service uses a digital SIM called an eSIM. The home internet service needs a normal SIM card to work for the user.

MTN said that users can get discounts of up to 20% when they add more lines for family members. These deals are month to month so people do not have to sign long contracts.

The service is for families who want to share data and keep track of what everyone is spending. It makes managing many different phone lines much easier.

One person controls everything through the app and can see how much data every person in the family has used to save money.
