Relegation woes continue to haunt Pitso Mosimane in Saudi Arabia after his team Abha Club dropped points on Saturday.

Although they picked up a point on the road in the 1-1 draw with Al Riyadh, it was a setback for Mosimane’s side in their fight against demotion.

After collecting maximum points with a 1-0 victory over Al Wehda just before the Fifa international break, Abha were back for an unsuccessful trip to Al Riyadh, which is home to former Kaizer Chiefs forward Knowledge Musona.

Following Saturday’s draw, Abha remained 17th on the 18-team Saudi Pro League table.

It was a missed opportunity to overtake 16th-placed Al Tai who were hammered 5-1 by Al Nassr, also on Saturday.

Fresh from the Al Riyadh draw, Abha will now face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr at home on Tuesday.

After years of enjoying success in clubs he has coached since his Mamelodi Sundowns days, Mosimane is now facing what could be a challenging period of his managerial career.

Abha is the second club he has struggled with after another difficult stint at Emirati side Al Wahda, where he lasted just four months, his shortest-ever stint as a club head coach.

His six games in charge of Abha have so far yielded two wins, as many draws and they have lost twice.

Nine matches remain before the Saudi Pro League concludes — the time left for Mosimane to save his team.
