Two arena shattering returns and an historic defeat for WWE’s poster boy, Roman Reigns, was the order of the evening as the tribal chief was pinned for the first time in almost four years at the end of a highly entertaining main event.

On Saturday, the annual pay-per-view switched locations as it moved out of the USA and into the UK for the very first time in its 16-year history, with the O2 Arena in London playing host to a memorable evening of sports entertainment.

Following a Damian Priest victory in the traditional men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, anticipation was in the air when the owner of the new briefcase observed Seth Rollins’ successful world heavyweight championship defence over Finn Balor.

In the women’s match, fan favorites Becky Lynch and Bayley missed out with Iyo Sky claiming the briefcase, making roombfor what is sure to result in an epic feud with women’s champion Asuka.

Drew McIntyre silenced rumours about his future in style as the Scot played on the UK angle to make a fantastic comeback and renew his challenge for the intercontinental championship.

And there was the great John Cena. The O2 erupted as the company’s magic man told fans of his dream to bring WrestleMania to London. T

The surprise gave the night a big event feel and only further enhanced the appetite of the capacity crowd for the main event later on the evening.

And then it happened: for the first time since 15 December 2019, Roman Reigns was pinned.

The hype and build up to one of the best done narratives to date was perfectly put in place for a shock like no other as the champ teamed up with Solo Sikoa against the Usos to take the Bloodline family narrative a step further.

Jey Uso pinned Reigns to take the match from entertaining and highly watchable to historically memorable, as a first chink in what was a seemingly impenetrable armour was gifted to the WWE universe.

With that lies an ocean of possibilities for the writers and creative team as the storyline continues to be a gift for enthusiasts everywhere.
