Moja Love duo facing death threats from Russian drug lord

The CEO of Moja Love, Aubrey Tau, and the new presenter of the drug-busting show “Sizok’thola“, Xolani Maphanga, are in hiding after receiving death threats.

Reports from Sunday World reveal that a Russian criminal mastermind has allegedly hired hitmen to assassinate the pair.

This situation emerged after the “Sizok’thola” team, during a drug raid in Lanseria, found a drug laboratory along with equipment for producing illegal drugs.

This discovery was made in partnership with law enforcement officers, who were later instructed to withdraw from the scene.

Following that, Tau encountered a mysterious individual outside his Johannesburg home.

The man, who spoke with an Asian accent, allegedly faked being lost when confronted. Investigations, involving the man’s vehicle registration and photographs, suggested a connection to the suspected drug lord involved in the Lanseria operation.

Moja Love’s spokesperson, Nonzwakazi Cekete, stressed that, despite these threats, the channel was determined not to succumb to intimidation or stop the “Sizok’thola” programme.

“The police are looking into it. We refuse to be scared off by threats, especially when drugs are wreaking havoc in our communities. We remain committed to exposing those responsible for spreading this poison,” Cekete stated.

Bokani Moyo, the Head of Channel, emphasised the channel’s commitment to addressing drug-related issues.

“We knew the risks associated with airing ‘Sizok’thola.’ We must shed light on societal challenges, including the drug crisis and criminal activities affecting our communities,” Moyo said.
