The uMkhonto weSizwe party has officially expelled its former secretary general, Floyd Shivambu.
National chairperson Nathi Nhleko announced the move on Friday. He said Shivambu had been given notice of his expulsion on 15 July. The reasons included public allegations he made against the party and his decision to form a new political group.

Shivambu was demoted from secretary general in June. Soon after, he launched the Mayibuye Consultation Process, saying he no longer believed in the MK party as a vehicle for black peopleโs liberation.
He also described the party as a โfamily affairโ and called its leader, former president Jacob Zuma, โsenileโ.
Shivambu has accepted the expulsion and ‘does not plans to appeal.
Reflecting on his 10-month membership, he thanked those he had served alongside.
โI now have time to focus my attention on the Mayibuye Consultation Process and Mayibuye Movement,โ he said.
