- Linda Makhubo went missing after taking an e-hailing ride from his home in Protea Glen, Soweto.
- His family confirmed his death at the mortuary and is now demanding justice and answers from the police.
Linda Makhubo, a school teacher from Protea Glen in Soweto, went missing last Wednesday after requesting an e-hailing ride.
When he didn’t come home that night, his family feared something had gone wrong. They opened a missing persons case at the Protea Glen police station and began searching for him.
For five long days, they waited and hoped. Then, on Monday, they got a call asking them to go to the mortuary.
There, they were shown a man’s body. It was a stranger at first glance, but as they looked closer, they realised it was Linda. Their worst fears had come true.
The family described Linda as more than just a teacher. They said he was a mentor, a friend, and a light in many people’s lives. “Linda moved through life with purpose and love,” they said. “He made people believe in humanity – until humanity failed him.”
The family is not only mourning his death but also demanding justice. They believe his death shows that the country’s systems are broken and that the police must act.
“This must not become another unsolved cold case,” they said. “Those responsible must be found and held fully accountable.”
Their final words were filled with pain and purpose: “Rest in power, Linda Makhubo. May your memory ignite change.”
