King Charles is said to have told his son Prince Harry that his wife, Meghan Markle, was not welcome at the bedside of Queen Elizabeth II before she passed on.

Reports suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were told by the then-Prince Charles that it was not appropriate for Meghan to see the monarch, EWN reported.

Charles is believed to have told Harry that the gathering was for close family and Meghan did not fall into that category. The couple stepped back as senior members of the royal family in 2020 but retained their titles.

On Thursday morning the queen’s children and grandchildren rushed to Scotland to be by her side.

Charles and Princess Anne were already nearby, but princes Andrew and Edward and the queen’s grandson Prince William flew up together from Windsor.

Despite the best efforts of the family it is believed that only Charles and Anne were with the Queen when she passed, at the age of 96.
