A week after he was shot by unknown gunmen in the parking lot of his famous restaurant Max’s Lifestyle, Max Mqadi has offered his heartfelt thanks to the Metro cops who helped him get to hospital in time.

Bleeding heavily from the gun wounds, Mqadi managed to drive himself to Florida road in Durban city central, where he stumbled upon Metro Police. After signalling to them that he’d been shot they rushed him to the hospital.

“We want to thank the Metro Police members, Mort Region,” read the statement, which went on to list the names of the six cops, S Maphumulo, Z. Mdlalose, A. Majola, Z. Mthimkhulu, A Mseleku and N. Ngcobo.

Mqadi went to lengths to thank the officers for their “timely intervention” in the press statement, which was signed by the owner and founder of the entertainment village.

Since his ordeal, the 51-year-old has been discharged from hospital and has returned to work.

A video of him being warmly welcomed by his staff at his restaurant circulated on social media on Thursday.
