- Mthandeni’s hit songs Front Seat, Umhobholo and MaWollies were removed from social media after someone complained and reported them to the platforms this week.
- Mthandeni says he turned down offers from big music companies recently and now his music is being banned while other Maskandi artists are not affected.
Award winning Maskandi artist Mthandeni Manqele is angry after his hit songs were banned on social media platforms.
The artist known as Igcokama Elisha told fans this week that someone reported his music and got it removed. His songs Front Seat, Umhobholo and MaWollies are no longer available online.
Mthandeni said he received an email telling him his music was reported and banned. He is waiting for an investigation to get his songs back online.
He said he does not know who reported him but suspects it could be linked to big music companies he refused to work with recently.
“I really don’t know who has so much hate against me. This has been going on for a while, especially when my songs are leading the charts,” he said.
He said it is suspicious that only his music is being banned while other Maskandi artists like Mzukulu and Mafikizolo are still online.
Mthandeni is worried the bans will affect his new songs set to be released next week. He said the new music is based on traditional Zulu hymns sung by men at gatherings and celebrations.
One of the new songs features a female artist.
He urged fans to watch and stream the new songs as soon as they drop next week before they can also be banned.
“I wonder why they are doing this to me. If this attack was directed at Maskandi music, they would have banned songs from other artists too. But it’s clear they are fighting me,” he said.
