Mampintsha died before he could honour his plan for a white wedding with Babes Wodumo and amend relations with his family, according to his sister Pinkie Gumede.

The late Big Nuz member, whose real name is Mandla Maphumulo, died last month after suffering a stroke.

He was hitched to popular Gqom star Babes Wodumo in a traditional wedding in April last year.

According to Mampintsha’s sister, there was chaos and confusion around that wedding as her family was not properly informed and consulted.

“The information we received was that it was a Showmax show that sought to showcase Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo’s love life. We were shocked when we learnt that they were actually getting married the traditional way. That hurt us as a family, especially our mother who is critically in hospital as we speak,” said Pinkie.

She said before her famous brother passed away, he paid them a visit in Umlazi, in Durban, and told them about his plans to have a white wedding.

“Mampintsha shocked and surprised us when he broke the news. We were over the moon since we felt bad after we were relegated to nobodies and neglected during their TV show wedding,” she said.

“My mother cried tears of joy upon hearing the news because she had been hurting after being elbowed in her son’s joyous moments. Right now she’s struggling physically and mentally because of Mampintsha’s death, but we believe she will pull through because she’s a strong person.”

Babes Wodumo, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, could not be reached for comment, but her sister Nondumiso Simelane, who acts as her business manager, responded to Scrolla.Africa.

“It’s none of your business that there was gonna be a white wedding or not. Why can’t you leave Babes to grieve in person?” she said.
