The hit song Ghanama notoriously caused bad vibes between two of Limpopo’s biggest artists, Makhadzi and King Monada.
The two fought so much over the song they ended up recording two separate versions. And now we understand why. The song, which features Prince Benza, is a masterpiece.
Makhadzi has emerged as the victor from the battle over the song. On Friday, she announced that her version of the song has reached platinum status.
The song also inspired a Zulu version, which went viral on social media platforms.
But what impressed most fans was her ability to “forgive and not hold grudges” when she also thanked King Monada for his contribution on the song, even though he went on to release his own version.
“Ghanama has reached PLATINUM… all thanks to Prince Benza (and) King Monada if it was not GOD who recruited us to meet that night there was not gonna be GHANAMA song,” wrote Makhadzi, who has evidently moved on from the beef which erupted over the song.
At only 25 years old, Makhadzi has been an inspiring leader of her generation with astounding achievements throughout her difficult journey to becoming a dance music superstar.
And her growth has been visible with every record she releases.
Recently Makhadzi launched her new Kokovha sneaker range with Kicks Sportswear which she said were inspired by her roots and Venda culture.
“I did it with my mom next to me, what a moment for me,” said Makhadzi, who signed a multi-million Rand deal with the South African sportswear brand to produce apparel inspired by “Makhadzi”.
