  • Musician Makhadzi, real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, celebrated turning 30 on 30 June by starting construction on her own mansion.
  • Some fans questioned why she built in her home village instead of Johannesburg suburbs like Fourways or Sandton.

Makhadzi marked her 30th birthday on 30 June by starting to build her own mansion, after years of wanting to move out of her parents’ home in the village.

The award-winning singer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, shared images of the building site on Facebook. She said the house plans are finalised and construction is already underway.

“Sometimes years back I asked myself what’s the plan for my 30th. And all that came to my mind was to move out of my parents’ house in the village,” she wrote.

“The 30th came, and all my manifestations have come to life. Here’s my six-month project. A woman is a brick.”

She thanked her fans, known as the Khadzinators, for their support.

“This is your home. Don’t pass with a hungry stomach,” she wrote.

“I just decided not to disappoint you by using my money doing stupid things.”

Fans flooded her post with congratulations. But some asked why she chose to build in a rural village instead of an upmarket suburb.

One commenter asked if she was building “in the middle of nowhere.”

Makhadzi laughed off the question, saying neighbours would soon appear in the photos.

She also hit back at people who felt she should have built in Johannesburg’s Fourways or Sandton.

“I have properties,” she wrote.

“They’re just not in Fourways or Sandton.”

The new house comes as Makhadzi is riding high.

She released her new single, “Tsotsi”, this year and is set to perform at the Hollywoodbets Durban July weekend in KwaZulu-Natal.
