Legendary Afro-pop music duo Mafikizolo will be embarking on a national tour to mark 25 years in the music industry.

“We are so excited to announce that our tour will kick off at The Sun City Super Bowl on the 17th of December 2022,” announced the duo of Nhlanhla Mafu and Theo Kgosinkwe on Instagram.

The group originally consisted of three members when they released their self-titled debut album in 1997, Mafikizolo. The third member, Tebogo Madingoane, died in 2004.

Mafikizolo will kick start the celebration by first releasing their 10th studio album, titled Idwala, on Friday, 26 August.

The 14-song upcoming album features a variety of great musicians and producers like Sjava on “10K”, Simmy on “Mamezala” and Zakes Bantwini on “Abasiyeke”, to name a few.

Mafikizolo started off as a kwaito group before branching into Afro-pop as they grew older. They are expected to bring along the featured artists on their legacy tour, which will cover seven of the nine provinces in Mzansi.

“We will be joined by our friends in the industry to make this a super spectacle,” added Mafikizolo on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Idwala is available for pre-save on all music streaming platforms.
