Errors, fouls and drama galore was the order of another Super Sunday of English Premier League action.
The Gunners started the pick of the weekend’s games in style as Bukayo Saka put them in the lead after just 14 minutes in North London.
A disjointed first half display from log leaders Liverpool was rescued on the cusp of half-time, as Gabriel’s hand got the final touch of a relentless Luis Diaz display to make it 1-1.
In the second period, the Reds started sharper before the ever reliable Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk blundered a clearance to gift the hosts the lead.
It was Gabriel Martinelli with the finish as the fans lapped up the possibility of closing the gap at the top to just two points.
Six yellow cards were handed out to Arsenal for fouls, dissent and time wasting — but it was the red card shown to Ibrahima Konate at the death that took the sting out of the visitors.
Just one shot on target for Liverpool showed that the Gunners were deserving winners and substitute Leandro Trossard put the icing on the cake with a stoppage time goal to make it 3-1.
In the earlier games — Chelsea suffered yet another defeat — this time to Wolves. It was Matheus Cunha’s hatrick that helped the visitors to a 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Manchester United beat West Ham 3-0 while Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1.
On Monday Night Football, Manchester City have an opportunity to reclaim second spot when they take on Brentford away from home.
