A Premier League advertisement was the order of the day as Liverpool hosted Arsenal in an incredible two-all draw at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds came back from two down in the end-to-end affair that had absolutely everything.
Mikel Arteta’s side seized control of the Merseyside turf in the opening half hour, with Liverpool in a state of disarray when the first goal went in after a Virgil Van Dijk error early on.
It was Gabriel Martinelli who found the net then; and 20 minutes later, he set up Gabriel Jesus to silence the Kop.
A moment of magic from the Egyptian King lifted the crowd though, as Mohamed Salah struck one past Aaron Ramsdale to set up a thrilling second half.
Ten minutes after the break, Salah could have levelled matters from the penalty spot but could not find the target, adding another twist to the plot.
The missed opportunity would not deter the hosts, as they piled incessant pressure on the leaders for the remainder of the clash.
Hoping for a first league title in 19 years, Arsenal just could not contain the Reds and it may have been three for Salah by the time the game entered its dying embers.
It would be another of the forward men that would make the magic happen late on, though, as Roberto Firmino came on to score in his last ever appearance against Arsenal.
One of his favourite opponents were on the wrong side of the Reds number 9 yet again, as the Brazillian struck his eighth goal in eight home games against the Gunners just before stoppage time.
The points would be shared in the end, with the Gunners’ gap at the top now six points. City have a game in hand on Arsenal, though, and there is an Etihad clash between the sides still to come before the season draws to an end.
