A female police officer in Limpopo appeared in court for sexually grooming and raping a 10-year-old boy.
Video footage of the incident circulated throughout social media, where the cop can be seen naked on a bed.
The video continues and flips to show the young boy, also without clothes on, holding the woman by her legs.
Translation of the video has the officer telling the boy to get on top of her. She encourages him, despite telling him he doesn’t know what he is doing.
The boy is said to be the officer’s son, Daily Sun reports. However, police are yet to confirm the claim.
Provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, said the 40-year-old woman appeared in the Marble Hall Magistrate’s Court.
Mojapelo explained that she has been charged with rape of a minor, sexual grooming of a child, as well as creating and distributing child pornography.
He added that the woman’s identity will not be revealed to protect the young boy, who has been put under protection.
The initial court appearance on Monday was remanded and is set to regather next week where the officer is expected to apply for bail.
The provincial commissioner of police, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, expressed shock and strongly condemned the incident.
“The actions of this woman are deplorable and deserve harsh condemnation. Even though the suspect allegedly committed this crime when she was still a Public Service Act employee of the SAPS.
“She should have known better that such unbecoming behaviour deserved harsh consequences. The South African Police Service does not have the space for such people who tarnish its image,” she said in a statement.
The video footage will not be shared due its sensitive nature.
