KZN snubs shutdown

Most people of KwaZulu-Natal snubbed Julius Malema’s shutdown, although there were some residents who showed their support.

There was only a small crowd with a few taxi drivers gathered at EFF provincial headquarters on Moore Road this morning.

The protest was peaceful as per EFF leadership command. The mass demonstration then  continued throughout the city of Durban.

Police were out in force in KZN to make sure that no businesses were disrupted.

In Durban, many people were seen supporting the protest from their apartment windows.

Some were waving the flag of their political organisations, such as IFP.

Organisations that are sympathetic to the ANC issued a warning to its members that they would face an internal disciplinary process if they joined the EFF march.

Sinothando Youth Rural Foundation chair Mlungisi Zungu said that they don’t want anyone from their organisation to protest.

“This protest is to destroy our economy and the safety of our country. That is why we won’t allow our members to be part of it,” he said.
