KZN news bites: Zuma’s son tells Americans to go home and fight Trump

Celani Sikhakhane brings you KwaZulu-Natal’s latest news.

Nkandla: Edward Zuma, who is the eldest son of former President Jacob Zuma, is calling on American citizens in South Africa to go back home and protect their democracy against US President Donald Trump on his decision to invade Venezuela. “I speak as a citizen of my country RSA as clearly the so-called leaders or politicians won’t because of hot potatoes in their mouths. What the USA president is doing is not something supported by the people and the administration of the USA is a very sickening act and should be treated as such. Trump is just doing all this for personal gains and he has mentioned it, by saying they want to extract oil to recover what they lost. As a citizen of South Africa I propose we ask all Americans in our country and tell them to go back home in defence of the democratically elected regime of Venezuela and the immediate retention of their beloved leader and his wife, with no condition, failing which South Africa if serious must cut all ties with the USA and issue a warrant of arrest on Trump and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu,” he wrote.

Inanda: Two suspects who were wanted for double murder and other serious violent crimes have been shot and killed in a shootout with police in Inanda on Wednesday afternoon. At the time of publication, the details were still sketchy as police were yet to provide more information on what happened on the scene and how the suspects were killed. On Monday, another wanted suspect was killed by police after they tried to shoot at the police in Margate near Port Shepstone.

Umfolozi: The Durban High Court has sentenced Njabulo Nqeka Mazibuko, 33, Xolani Sandile Mlotshwa, 32, and Siphelele Funokwakhe Gwala, 27, to four terms of life and 120 years imprisonment for the spate of robberies and murders they committed between 26 August and 7 December 2021 in the lower Umfolozi area. They were also sentenced for attempted murder and firearm-related charges. Before the incidents, the men and other criminals got together to form a syndicate with a common purpose to commit crimes.
