Durban: The daughter of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and former President Jacob Zuma has revealed that she went into acting by accident after she accompanied her sister to an AFDA Open Day. Gugu Zuma-Ncube, who is the co-producer of Polygamy, told uKhozi FM SABC radio station recently in Durban as she was speaking about her life and family. “Actually I was studying Law at UCT. Then my sister came for the AFDA open day. I joined her but when I came there, I changed my mind after realising that I love to be a storyteller and acting. I then phoned my mom that I am dropping the Law studies for acting. She never responded but she then dropped the call,” said Gugu. She said that her father Zuma wanted them to be lawyers while their mother pushed them to be doctors.
Bulwer: The National Prosecuting Authority has successfully secured an effective life sentence against Sihle Emmanuel Khambule, 37, in the Hlanganani Regional Court following his conviction for the murder of his father, Mzingela Khambule, 66. The offence occurred in the Bulwer area of KwaZulu-Natal. Evidence before the court revealed that on 18 April 2026, the deceased was at home with his wife after returning from a traditional ceremony in the neighbourhood. He informed his wife that he had been involved in an argument with his son, Khambule, during the ceremony. Later that day, Khambule returned home. Upon seeing him arrive, the deceased attempted to lock the door to prevent him from entering the house. However, he was unable to do so and Khambule gained entry.
Mthwalume: Health professionals gathered in Mthwalume on KZN South Coast to celebrate the life of Dr Zanele Bikitsha, who also served as Chairperson of the South African Medical Association, on Thursday. Dr Bikitsha tragically lost her life in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, 2 August 2026, while travelling home. Addressing mourners, Health Minister Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi described Dr Bikitsha as a leader who possessed the rare gift of making every person feel seen, valued and heard. She said Dr Bikitsha approached every challenge with grace, wisdom and unwavering determination. She was described as a passionate advocate for women’s health, empowerment and equal access to quality healthcare.
