Mpophomeni: A blood relative of former President Jacob Zuma has been arrested along with a 26-year-old suspect for the murder of DA councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu. Police National Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said two suspects were arrested on Wednesday for the murder of Ndlovu that occurred at his home in 2023. “The pair will appear before the Howick Magistrates Court on Thursday. They will join the two suspects who were previously arrested and charged with murder. They will face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Brigadier Mathe.
Durban: Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has terminated a tender of a road contractor who was accused of failing on the project. “We wish to announce the termination of the contract between the department and a contractor responsible for the construction of the main road P577-02. About R87.8-million was set aside for the rehabilitation of the road that runs along the M5 between Cowie’s Hill and New Germany. It provides a link to the M13 and M19,” a statement read.
Mandeni: The Supreme Court of Appeal has ordered that the decision of the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, dismissing the state’s application for special leave to appeal, be referred to the SCA for reconsideration. On 31 May 2023, the High Court discharged the accused in the so-called KZN Jazz Festival Case that was planned to take place in Mandeni but never happened, while millions were spent. The accused in this matter faced several charges ranging from corruption, fraud and money laundering to contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
