Celani Sikhakhane brings you KwaZulu-Natal’s latest news
Pongola: The Zulu King has used the uMkhosi WoSelwa sacred ceremony to make the relationship better between the King and the KwaZulu-Natal government. In his short speech that he gave on Monday afternoon after he finished his seclusion period at Mashobeni Royal Palace, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini praised the provincial government for always working with him on every important royal ceremony. His positive words about the KZN government come after months of fighting between him and the Office of the KZN Premier over the payment of his legal bill and the refusal of the Provincial Government to continue paying for transport of royal family members to important events of the Zulu Kingdom. On Monday His Majesty also thanked the first wife of the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, Queen Sibongile maDlamini of the Khethomthandayo Royal Palace for coming to the sacred ceremony including Queen Nozizwe Mulelo and the Queen of Mashobeni Royal Palace Sihle Mdluli.
Pietermaritzburg: The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s group in KwaZulu-Natal strongly condemns the violent attack of a woman at a tavern in Pietermaritzburg, as shown in disturbing video footage going around on social media. The group calls for the immediate arrest of the two men seen in the video carrying out this brutal and cruel act. The footage shows two men viciously attacking a defenceless woman inside the tavern, while other people allegedly failed to help as the victim lay helpless on the floor.
Durban: Weapons and 800 rounds of ammunition were caught during the NenzaniLaEzweni Operation which was held at Marrianhill Toll Plaza on Monday. This has led KZN Transport Minister Siboniso Duma to order an investigation and praise RTI, Durban Metro Police and SAPS as one other suspect was found with a police appointment card. The two individuals failed to show valid documents that prove they follow the Firearms Control Act. A vehicle which was used by the two individuals has been taken away as it was illegally fitted with security lights. This is breaking the National Road Traffic Act. The RTI is clamping down on the use of blue lights in any part of the province.
