Celani Sikhakhane brings you the latest KwaZulu-Natal news.

Nongoma – One of KZN’s youngest chiefs is fighting to get water for his people. Inkosi Melisizwe Zulu of the Matheni tribal authority held a meeting on Friday with local councillors about the water crisis affecting women and children. He plans to look for alternatives like Jojo tanks to help his community.

Umzinyathi – The IFP has fired councillor Dumisani Xaba after he was arrested for stealing four cows in Endumeni. The party plans to replace him with Dundee Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu. Police say stock theft is a big problem in the area.

Durban – Cornubia residents were shocked when a gunman shot two men – a builder and his assistant – in front of children. Both men survived. Cornubia was built for working people who can’t get home loans and was opened by former Housing Minister Tokyo Sexwale.

Ethekwini – The ANC has distanced itself from a councillor who told an Indian DA councillor to “go to Bombay.” The DA called this another example of racism against minorities by ANC and EFF politicians in Durban.

Dumbe – eDumbe Mayor Sibusiso Mkhabela is fighting with National Freedom Party leader Ivan Barnes. Barnes wants to suspend Mkhabela, who is the NFP’s national chairperson.
