Mahlabathini: The resting place of the late Zulu Prime Minister and IFP founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi was launched as a provincial heritage site. The event was attended by several dignitaries who paid respect to the Buthelezi family in Mahlabathini, north of KZN on Wednesday. The event coincided with his birthday. Buthelezi became a hero to some and an enemy to others due to his political views. He made history when he was visited by the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. When he attended the British funeral he was mistaken for the late American singer Ray Charles.

Estcourt: KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has instructed that police officers who were seen transporting a learner to a matric dance function using a police vehicle in Estcourt be temporarily removed from operation pending internal investigation. The officers, as seen in a video which has gone viral on various media platforms and social media, were on duty when they transported the child of a colleague to a matric dance event. In doing so, the members neglected their primary responsibilities of providing police visibility, attending to complaints and keeping residents safe.

Drakensberg: Under the shadow of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg mountains, the air at Didima Camp was thick with anticipation. In a display of leadership and solidarity, KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane celebrated the Department’s Women’s Month by leading a team of officials and women on a challenging hike through the iconic Ezintabeni Zokhahlamba.
