Durban North: The Northwood Boys High School community has a new hero. Anathi, a beloved security guard at the school’s front gate, has become a social media darling after her passionate support for the boys’ team during a weekend rugby game.
The Northwood Boys High team, the Knights, played a thrilling match against Durban High School, ultimately securing a hard-fought 17-14 victory.
But it was Anathi, contracted through Marshall Security, who truly stole the show. She set social media abuzz as she sang alongside the boys, pumping them up with incredible energy and school spirit.
The internet quickly fell in love with her, with many affectionately dubbing her “Mama Joy.” Fans across various platforms celebrated her dedication, noting that she goes above and beyond her daily duties to bring happiness and encouragement to “her kids.”
The heartwarming video of her celebrating with the students has already garnered over 300,000 views. For Northwood Boys High, an institution with a rich history spanning over 75 years, the moment highlighted a beautiful sense of community.
According to The Pinnacle, coach Jacques Deen shared that the victory meant a great deal, saying it was “more than just a win—it was a breakthrough.”
KwaMaphumulo: Detectives from the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit have brought a step toward justice for the KwaMaphumulo community by arresting two suspects connected to a tragic 2024 shooting.
The suspects were apprehended in KwaMaphumulo following a targeted police operation on Wednesday night, April 22, 2026. They are linked to the heartbreaking loss of three young men who were shot and killed in the Okhahlambeni area just after midnight on April 25, 2024.
During that fateful early morning, police responded to reports of gunfire at an Okhahlambeni homestead. Upon arrival, they were directed to a rondavel where they tragically discovered the bodies of the three young men — one aged 18 and two aged 22. The victims had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene.
The arrested suspects, aged 29 and 55, are scheduled to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 24, 2026. Authorities have noted that further arrests cannot be ruled out as they continue their work on the case.
