Pietermaritzburg – The Manyoni family from Pietermaritzburg is worried about their 22-year-old son, Sbonga Manyoni, who went missing in Cape Town nearly a month ago. Sbonga disappeared on 20 August after leaving the Cape Town College’s City Campus. Despite searching, the family hasn’t found him.
Richards Bay – The IFP-run City of Umhlathuze will appeal a ruling that stopped it from cutting overtime pay for workers earning over R241,110 a year until June 2025. They decided to appeal after getting legal advice about the commissioner’s decision.
Pietermaritzburg – The provincial treasury is buying vehicles for MECs in a way that won’t waste public funds. MEC Francois Rodgers says they’ll only spend R12-million, saving R27-million a year.
Nkandla – The MK Youth League in King Cetshwayo district has accused the IFP of using Nkandla municipal resources to campaign for Wednesday’s by-elections in ward 4. The MK party, IFP, and ANC are all fielding candidates. The IFP previously held the ward.
Nongoma – The acting chief financial officer of Nongoma local municipality quit a week after starting. Mzwandile Dube resigned because the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs questioned his experience. He said he left to keep his “peace and integrity intact”.
