ANC KwaZulu-Natal Secretary Bheki Mtolo has come out with guns blazing, accusing Nehawu, of pretending to hate white people while selling out farm workers to white farmers.
Mtolo spoke on Saturday at the Elders Winter Party held in Kokstad, KZN, by the ANC in honour of 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela International Day.
Mtolo donated about 700 blankets to the elderly and thanked them for voting for the ANC on 29 May.
He said the labour inspector who went to farms checking on the issue of minimum wages and met the white farmers without their knowledge and came back with a bribe of a sheep was from Nehawu.
“Then he or she would lie and claim that you are indeed given the minimum wage,” said Mtolo.
“It is because they pretend to hate white people while colluding with them in the dark.”
He also told the elders that those Home Affairs officials who don’t want to help them are from Nehawu.
Mtolo’s attack on Nehawu comes after the union’s meeting at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg last week, where the union rejected the ANC’s participation in the Government of National Unity.
Nehawu members sang songs accusing the ANC of selling out to form an elite government with whites. President Mike Shingange claimed they never voted for the GNU but for the ANC on May 29.
He said even during the campaign they supported the ANC because of policies aligned with workers.
