KO disses Ramaphosa’s ‘Banana Republic’

By Staff Writer

It’s no wonder that the internet burst into flames on Wednesday when rapper KO launched a freshly squeezed diss track with a few people catching some shots.

The musician, real name Ntokozo Mdluli, had a lot to get off his chest in latest freestyle, “Forecast 23”, starting with his long standing beef with former Teargas member Ntukza.

To summarise, KO said, “F**k a reunion” and Teargas fans died a little inside because there’s clearly no hope of the group getting back together.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was not spared. The musician addressed the Phala Phala scandal, saying we live in a banana republic. Although Ramaphosa will most likely not respond, he could earn some Gen Z cred if he did.

But perhaps the most scathing beef on the track are the lines he delivered to singer Lady Du.

It seems MrCashtime, as KO is also known, got his feelings hurt when Lady Du posted on social media some time ago saying his hit track “SETE” wasn’t going gold.

A whole two days later, Record Industry of South Africa (Risa) declared the song platinum according to KO. So he had to let Lady Du know that while she’s questioning his tracks, she isn’t even making music and “the hits she has are questionable”.

While it’s unlikely that Ramaphosa will respond to the diss track, fans are salivating because of the mere thought that Ntukza and Lady Du will give us some counter tracks. A little friendly drama makes for some good music.

And if they don’t, KO has already promised to address everything in 2023 so it’s gonna be a hot year for hip hop.
