King Shaka Day brings royal family together

Members of the Zulu Royal family used the commemoration of King Shaka kaSenzangakhona to put aside their differences and reconcile with another.

On Saturday Princess Bukhosibemvelo Zulu Nyawo and King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s wife Queen Ntokozo KaMayisela were seen hugging each other and rejoicing at the uMkhosi weLembe in kwaDukuza – a far cry away from their bitter feud which almost tore the family apart.

Scrolla.Africa understands that the feud also led Princess Bukhosibemvelo to refuse to support her brother King Misuzulu at several royal events.

Princess Bukhosibemvelo even refused to accept the ascension of King Misuzulu to the throne and instead suggested the name of their younger brother Prince Simingaye.

She snubbed the umkhehlo ceremony of Queen kaMayisela that was held in Newcastle and she was also seen in a viral video body shaming kaMayisela and rejecting her as their bride.

But on Saturday at the commemoration held for King Shaka, it seems their differences were set aside.

King Misuzulu also used the commemoration to go to King Shaka’s grave to report to his ancestor that he had ascended to the throne as the new Zulu King.

In his address at the event, the king urged the Zulu nation to unite and fight the scourge of gender-based violence.

“It pains me that the Zulus we are number one on abusing women and children. This needs to stop because we are known as the most protective nation when it comes to women and children,” he said.

He also stressed the impact of continued load shedding and asked the government to do something to save businesses.

The king paid tribute to 18 school children and 2 adults who died during the horrific truck accident in Pongola.

He urged truck drivers and other motorists to obey the rules of the road and respect each other to avoid such carnage.
