King Misuzulu KaZwelithini had to miss the most important mountain prayer of the Zulu nation at kwaCeza near uLundi after politicians requested a special meeting with him over the issue of the Government of the National Unity.
His Traditional Prime Minister Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi revealed this at the annual mountain prayer on Saturday.
King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo started the prayer at the kwaCeza hill, where His Majesty sought divine intervention to face his British enemies, who wanted the land of the Zulu Nation after they burnt the royal palace of his father at Ondini, in northern KwaZulu-Natal in 1879.
“The country leaders have requested a special meeting with His Majesty King Misuzulu KaZwelithini over the issue of GNU, as they seek his advice. This is not the first time such a meeting has happened. In 1994 politicians requested a special meeting with the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu as they were facing deadlock in their negotiations to form a democratic government,” said Buthelezi.
He did not reveal the names of those politicians who met with the King to discuss the GNU issues.
But Scrolla.Africa was told that the prayer was almost cancelled because the Osuthu Royal House was not happy and wanted the microphone-grabbing incident to be officially resolved with the ANC before the convening of the prayer.
Sources from the royal court said that on Thursday the House of Osuthu was furious and wanted the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal to come and apologise for the incident initiated by its KZN chairperson, Siboniso Duma, in March this year at kwaCeza.
“Abantwana (Senior Princes) of Osuthu proposed that the ANC should come and apologise to King Misuzulu KaZwelithini over the microphone debacle that took place in this place of kwaCeza, where we were commemorating King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo.
“They stated that we can’t have a prayer over this dark cloud. Then on Saturday in the morning, out of the blue, we were told that the event would continue as planned. Therefore we must be ready to go because vehicles were waiting for us,” a source said.
In March during the 110th commemoration of King Dinuzulu kaCetshwayo, Duma grabbed the microphone from Buthelezi and refused to allow him to introduce King Misuzulu KaZwelithini.
Instead, he called on King Misuzulu’s senior advisor and praise singer Buzetsheni Mdletshe to take over.
Mdletshe refused and lectured Duma about the Zulu Royal Kingdom protocol.
Later Mdletshe was fired by the Office of the then Premier Nomusa maDube-Ncube which oversaw the matters of the Royal House.
