King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s protection unit prevented the royal rebels Prince Mbonisi kaBhekuzulu and Prince Mathuba kaBhekuzulu from attending a meeting before the unveiling of a tombstone at the Queen Regent Mother’s palace.
The officers stopped the two princes at the palace gates after they were accused of working with King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s sister to dethrone him.
The incident happened on Monday, 13 May, when Prince Mbonisi and Prince Mathuba visited King Misuzulu’s siblings before the tombstone unveiling ceremony for Queen Regent Mantfombi kaSobhuza.
Several sources in the royal family told Scrolla.Africa that King Misuzulu is angry at rumours that his sister, Princess Bukhosibemvelo Nyawo, is working with two of her uncles to dethrone him.
“Princess Bukhosibemvelo has become something else against her brother. She is bad-mouthing him and wants him dethroned,” a source said.
“The worst part is that she is now having meetings at the KwaKhangela Mankengana Royal Palace with Prince Mbonisi and Prince Mathuba.”
Another highly placed source, who has witnessed several royal meetings, said that Prince Buzabazi kaZwelithini, Prince Mbonisi’s preferred candidate for the throne, attends some of these meetings.
“Some senior aunts have warned Princess Bukhosibemvelo that she needs to understand that if her brother is successfully dethroned, the kingship will never return to KwaKhangela Mankengana Royal Palace again.
“It will go to other houses, but she seems very bitter and angry with her brother,” the source said. “She even snubbed the lobola ceremony of King Misuzulu’s third wife, Nomzamo Myeni. She hates King Misuzulu with a passion.”
Princess Bukhosibemvelo told Scrolla.Africa that rumours of her plotting against her brother were lies meant to tarnish her name.
“All I want with my siblings is peace,” she said. “We are tired of these divisions that are taking place in the family. What happened last week was a painful experience where we were blocked from entering the palace with our uncles.
“But I’m happy that at the tombstone unveiling of our Queen Mother, there was a great unity with my father’s children from other houses, including our mother’s,” she said.
Princess Bukhosibemvelo revealed that she cried with her sister, Princess Ntandoyenkosi, after the police chased her uncles from the palace.
Prince Mathuba told Scrolla.Africa that he and Prince Mbonisi were blocked at the gate while trying to make their way to the palace to meet King Misuzulu’s siblings.
“While at the gate, police blocked us and stated that King Misuzulu instructed them to chase us away because we had taken him to court; therefore, we were not allowed to get inside.
“We were there to discuss certain issues with [King Misuzulu’s] siblings, who are the children of our late brother King Zwelithini. The meeting was about unity after the children called us and stated that they are open to meeting with us as a family,” he said.
