King clears his private office over fraud claims as fired officials fight back

By Celani Sikhakhane

  • King Misuzulu kaZwelithini says a bank account opened in his name belongs to a legitimate NPO, not a private company set up for personal gain.
  • Royal Chancellor Inkosi Malusi Zondi and private office official Arnold Ndamase are alleged to have been fired over the fraud claims, which both deny.

King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has gone on record to reject fraud allegations against two of his most senior officials. The claims centre on a bank account allegedly opened in the King’s name without his knowledge.

In a leaked phone call, royal private office official Arnold Nododile Ndamase is heard putting the allegation directly to the King.

“Your Majesty there are allegations where we are being accused of fraudulently opening a company bank account in your name. But this is not true because it’s the NPO that you know,” Ndamase said.

King Misuzulu kaZwelithini agreed. He said the account belongs to a Non-Profit Organisation he is aware of.

“I know about that bank account and it’s an NPO,” the King said.

Ndamase told Scrolla.Africa the allegations were pure lies.

The fraud claims are linked to the alleged dismissals of Ndamase and Royal Chancellor Inkosi Malusi Zondi. Scrolla.Africa could not independently confirm whether the two were fired or the reasons given.

Royal Household spokesperson Prince Thulani Zulu was not available for comment at the time of publication.
