There’s nothing like a gospel concert to leave people spirits high and feeling blessed.
But this time, it wasn’t the almighty who is to be credited with all the talk that followed a Gospel event in Bloemfontein over the weekend – but rather Kelly Khumalo and the bikini costume she wore.
Kelly raised blood pressures when she took to the stage performing gospel music in her little orange number and heels. The concert was streamed live to social media to a sea of disapproval.
But was it justified? After all it wasn’t at church, her fans argued.
However, gospel should be respected as it is God’s word, said her attackers.
Kelly is royalty on the Mzansi scandal streets and this is on brand for the talented mother of two. But Mzansi has had it.
Kelly was not phased by the criticism and posted snaps of her on stage with the caption, “they don’t make them like HER anymore 🐆”.
With a fan praising her boldness and likening her talent and fierceness to that of legendary South African music queens, Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa.
