- Singer Kelly Khumalo revealed on her 40th birthday that she has completed her training as an inyanga after a 15-year journey of learning.
- She describes her healing gift as universal and not limited to traditional practices.
Singer Kelly Khumalo has announced she’s become a traditional healer, sharing the news on her 40th birthday.
“Today, as I celebrate my birthday, I’m also graduating as inyanga. So now, I’m officially an inyanga,” she told Ukhozi FM on 11 November.
Kelly said she’s been training on and off for 15 years. As an inyanga, she will now call women “Gogo” and men “Mkhulu” out of respect.
“But my gift is unique,” she said.
“It’s not only about traditional healing; it’s a universal gift meant to reach people worldwide, not just Black people. That’s why it took me longer to understand it.”
She spoke about training through water, nature, prayer and heritage to build self-awareness.
Kelly remains in the public eye due to the unsolved murder of her former boyfriend, soccer star Senzo Meyiwa, in 2014.
Though she was there when he died and many people still ask questions, she says she was just a witness.
