- The attack happened days after new claims linked Kelly to the death of Senzo Meyiwa, which she strongly denied online.
- Security rushed on stage to protect Kelly after the can was thrown but she kept singing.
Singer Kelly Khumalo was attacked while performing on stage at the Dundee July event in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
Kelly was singing a gospel song when someone in the crowd threw a can of alcohol at her, but she didn’t stop performing.
Her bodyguard quickly reacted by kicking the can back into the crowd. Two more bodyguards joined him on stage to make sure Kelly was safe.
The incident came just days after former advocate Malesela Teffo made new claims about the death of Kelly’s former partner, footballer Senzo Meyiwa.
During an interview on the popular show Podcast and Chill, Teffo said Kelly had accidentally shot Senzo in 2014 while trying to hand him a gun.
Senzo was killed at Kelly’s family home in Vosloorus. At the time, Kelly, her sister Zandie, her mother, her son Christian, and three of Senzo’s friends were in the house.
After the interview, Kelly posted a video message on social media slamming the claims.
“Enough is enough. It stops here and it stops today,” she said. “I’m not going to be quiet or pay lawyers to speak for me.”
She added, “If you really believe I did it, come and get me. I’m not above the law. I fear no one.”
Kelly also said she’s tired of being dragged into drama by people who want attention.
