Kaze warns misfiring Chiefs to find their shooting boots

  • Cedric Kaze says Kaizer Chiefs must be more clinical after a third straight goalless draw in all competitions.
  • The Amakhosi coach says the players are working hard but must turn effort into goals to end their drought.

Kaizer Chiefs co-head coach Cedric Kaze says his team needs to start scoring if they hope to turn their season around.

After another goalless draw, this time against Siwelele in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium, Kaze admitted the team is struggling in front of goal.

“It’s a tough week with a game every three days,” he said. “We don’t have to play well every day, but we need to put the ball in the net. We’re not clinical or lucky enough in front of goal.”

The draw means Chiefs have now gone three games without scoring – including their Carling Knockout loss to Stellenbosch and a goalless Caf Confederation Cup draw with AS Simba.

Even with new striker Etiosa Ighodaro making his debut, the goals didn’t come. Chiefs have now scored only nine times in 13 matches this season.

Kaze said the focus now is on keeping the players confident and working on finishing. “We need to stay calm and keep believing,” he said.

Amakhosi face AS Simba again on Sunday in the second leg of their Confederation Cup qualifier. With the first leg ending 0-0, any goal conceded at home could end their run.
